Parachuting Trainer Killed Following Plummeting Without Safety Gear in Nashville

Local Fire Department reported it used several equipment and a pulley system to save the client

The Federal Aviation Administration is looking into the fatality of a parachuting trainer following he became separated from his client during a dive in Nashville, Tennessee.

Authorities say instructor Justin Fuller "appears to have fallen from the air without a parachute" during the jump on the weekend.

The instructor, 35, seems to have separated from his client and a tandem rig, which links the two during a jump and includes the parachute.

A law enforcement aircraft found the instructor's remains in a forested zone hours later. The Nashville Fire Department utilized multiple pieces of equipment to reach the middle-aged client who lived through the descent after being stuck on a tree branch for some time with the backup chute.

Police said several additional jumps, which took place near a local airport, were successfully completed before the deadly incident. The plane from which they leaped also landed safely.

It is unclear how Mr Fuller, an experienced skydiver, got detached from the safety equipment.

A individual who assisted fire crews in the rescue informed a local television station the client who authorities rescued mentioned "he was a first-time jumper, and it was going to be his last".

Mr Fuller had previously posted about his enthusiasm for teaching others how to skydive.

"Teaching people to skydive has always been in my view the most satisfying job at the drop zone," the instructor wrote in an Instagram post in the summer.

"Watching them figure it out and begin maneuvering their bodies is consistently a heartwarming moment. Sometimes though, it can get a little hectic up there when you release a student for their first time."

During that period he shared images of the wreckage a jump aircraft he was on saying the aircraft's motor had failed after departure. All 20 people onboard survived.
